Washburn RB Jones wins Mr. Football award

Minneapolis Washburn running back/defensive back Jeffrey Jones was named Mr. Football for 2013 by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) on Sunday

Jones, a four-year starter for the Millers and two-time Minneapolis City Conference Player of the Year, was a Star Tribune All-Metro first team selection and named first-team All-State by Associated Press.

Jones rushed for 4,668 yards and scored 92 touchdowns in his high school career. Jones will play in the Under Armour All-American Game in Tampa, Fla., on Jan. 2.

First presented in 2004, the Mr. Football Award is an annual award recognizing Minnesota's best high school football player. The Mr. Football Award is sponsored by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association and the Minnesota Vikings.
