Clara Kim will join the Walker Art Center staff as senior curator of visual arts on Aug. 1. She has previous Walker ties as well as international connections. Most recently she was a co-curator of 2010 Media City Seoul, an international biennial in South Korea.

Since 2003 she has worked at REDCAT, the Roy and Edna Disney/Calarts Theater affiliated with the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. There she has focused on Pacific Rim artists. Her roster included such contemporary hotshots as Dave McKenzie, Walid Raad, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Olga Koumoundouros and others. One of her recent projects updated the mid-20th century "Case Study" architecture series through which young architects developed prototypes for modern homes. In her 2009 "Small Case Study House" project, the Tokyo architecture firm Atelier Bow-Wow produced an installation during a three-month residency at REDCAT.

As a curatorial associate at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art earlier in her career, she worked on "YES: Yoko Ono," an exhibition that traveled to the Walker. Her résumé includes stints as a Walker curatorial intern and at the Renaissance Society on the campus of the University of Chicago, where she earned a M.A. degree. She also holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
