Vonn injures an arm in a bad tumble, but it's a bruise, not a broken bone

December 29, 2009 at 5:14AM

Vancouver Olympics favorite Lindsey Vonn of Burnsville bruised a bone in her left arm in a crash on the opening run of a World Cup giant slalom Monday in Lienz, Austria.

After X-ray and MRI scans showed no broken bones, she wore a splint to the team hotel. She was to decide Tuesday morning whether she could compete in the slalom later in the day.

"She has a lot of pain, but she should be OK," said her husband, Thomas Vonn. "Basically what it means is she can ski as soon as she can handle the pain."
