A whopping 126 bands and solo artists signed up for Vita.mn's sixth annual Are You Local? new-band contest. The public listened and voted, and four finalists emerged.

Now these four wildly disparate acts will square off Friday at 7th Street Entry during the Are You Local? concert at First Avenue. Here are the finalists, performing in randomized order: regular-guy folk-rocker Sam Cassidy (playing at 6:30 p.m. Fri.), Red Lake Indian Reservation rapper Baby Shel (7:05), moody trip-hoppers Moon & Pollution (7:40) and regenerated Brit-rockers the Stress of Her Regard (8:15). Meet all of them by clicking the links.

Friday's winner will be revealed with an encore performance in First Avenue's Mainroom, amid our lineup of Brother Ali, the Blind Shake and Tiny Deaths. Then the winner will get $1,000 to join us at First Ave's Midwest Day Party showcase on March 20 in Austin, Texas, during South by Southwest. So come out Friday and root for your favorite home team. Maybe we'll end up seeing them (and you?) in Texas.
