The Vikings' training camp will begin Saturday, July 25, when players report to Mankato. The first practice will be the next day.

On Saturday, Aug. 1, the Vikings will hold their first evening practice at Blakeslee Stadium. It will be followed by team introductions and fireworks. Most practice days will include a 10:30 a.m. walk-through and a 2:45 p.m. practice. The team will not practice in Mankato on July 30, Aug. 5 and Aug. 8-10. The last Mankato practice is Aug. 13.

•The Vikings filled their vacant roster spot by signing defensive tackle Chrishon Rose, a rookie free agent from East Carolina.



Andy Bisek of Chaska and Jordan Holm of Minneapolis earned berths on the U.S. Greco-Roman team that will compete in wrestling's world championships Sept. 7-12 in Las Vegas. At last weekend's Greco-Roman world team trials in Ithaca, N.Y., Bisek scored an 8-0 technical fall over Dillon Cowan to win the 75-kilogram (165 pounds) weight class. Holm defeated Jon Anderson in the 85K (187 pounds) class on criteria.

•Triathlete Gwen Jorgensen of St. Paul was selected as the Team USA female athlete of the month for May. She won two World Triathlon Series events last month.

• Gophers women's assistant basketball coach Nikita Lowry Dawkins was promoted to associate head coach.

•United FC midfielder Greg Jordan will need surgery for a torn meniscus in his right knee.

•The St. Paul Saints beat visiting Joplin 8-3 to improve to 16-2. Ian Gac's double gave the Saints a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
