In an attempt to bolster its depth at fullback, the Vikings today signed free agent Ryan D’Imperio off their practice squad and waived rookie tight end Allen Reisner.
D’Imperio is 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 241 pounds and will now assume a heightened role at fullback as the understudy to veteran Jim Kleinsasser. The team hadn’t had much depth behind the 34-year-old Kleinsasser and had spent the first month of this season using Reisner and fellow rookie tight end Kyle Rudolph at tight end from time to time.
The Vikings drafted D’Imperio out of Rutgers with the 273rd overall pick in 2010. D’Imperio was a linebacker in college but was asked to transition to offense last season.
