The Gophers women's hockey team made a strong start and never looked back in its 4-1 victory over Ohio State on Saturday.
The Gophers (16-3, 10-3 WCHA) struck for three goals in the first seven minutes. Rachel Ramsey scored a power-play goal at 5:14. Just 26 seconds later, Rachael Bona added her third goal of the season. With 13:06 remaining in the period, Emily West scored.
The Gophers also started strong in the second period as Amanda Kessel netted her 19th goal of the season at 3:12. The Buckeyes (9-6-2, 6-6-1) got on the board three minutes later with a goal from Danielle Gagne.
Noora Räty made a season-high 27 saves for the Gophers.
College wrestlingFive wrestlers from the No. 3-ranked Gophers and four from St. Cloud State, ranked No. 3 in Division II, won their weight divisions in the 41st annual Holiday Inn Husky Open in St. Cloud.

FSU wins regionalFlorida State defeated Iowa State (25-6) in a five-set regional volleyball final at Williams Arena. The Seminoles (28-6) -- who beat the Cyclones 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, 19-25, 15-11 -- reached the Final Four for the first time. They face UCLA next weekend in San Antonio.
The other finalists are Illinois and either Pepperdine or Southern California.
