DULUTH - Sarah Davis had her first career hat trick, Noora Raty recorded her 24th career shutout and the Gophers women's hockey team advanced to the WCHA championship game Friday night with a 6-0 victory over North Dakota at AMSOIL Arena.

Raty made 27 saves for her ninth shutout of the season for the second-ranked Gophers (30-5-2). Emily West had two goals and two assists, and Amanda Kessel had two assists to give her 44 on the season.

The Gophers will play Minnesota Duluth for the championship Saturday night after the Bulldogs beat top-seeded and top-ranked Wisconsin 3-1 in the first semifinal of the WCHA Final Face-Off.

The Gophers will appear in their 11th consecutive WCHA tournament championship game; in all 11 games they have played either UMD or Wisconsin.

All six Gophers goals against the Sioux (22-11-3) were even strength. They led 2-0 after one period, with West scoring only 3 minutes, 21 seconds into the game and Davis getting on the board with 1:11 remaining.

Davis, Jen Schoullis and West scored in the second period, chasing Sioux goalie Stephanie Ney out of the net after she gave up five goals on 17 shots. Jorid Dagfinrud took over from there.

Davis completed her hat trick in the third period, giving her 11 goals on the season.

Minnesota Duluth 3, Wisconsin 1: Jenna McParland scored the tiebreaking goal in the second period and the Bulldogs (21-13-1) moved within one victory of an automatic NCAA tournament berth by beating the Badgers (31-4-2).

Jennifer Harss made 32 saves for UMD, which is looking for its eighth consecutive NCAA berth.

Wisconsin went 0-for-6 on the power play.
