IOWA CITY - Kachine Alexander's driving layup with 5 seconds left gave Iowa a 64-62 victory over the Gophers women's basketball team in a back-and-forth game on Thursday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Alexander, from Minneapolis and Benilde-St. Margaret's High School, scored after China Antoine made a three-pointer to tie the score at 62, one of six ties in the second half. Point guard Kamille Wahlin sealed the victory by swiping the ball from Kiara Buford with 2 seconds left.

"It's always an emotional win with Minnesota," Iowa coach Lisa Bluder said. "Kash's last bucket, she has a little shiner to show for it, a little badge of honor. I think it's quite fitting that Kash makes the last basket against Minnesota."

The Gophers (11-13, 3-8 Big Ten) had won three in a row. The Hawkeyes (18-7, 6-6) broke a two-game losing streak. Iowa swept the season series from the Gophers and has won seven of the past nine in the rivalry.

Antoine scored 13 of her game-high 19 points in the second half. She was 5-for-8 from three-point range and scored her team's final seven points. Buford had 15 points but only two in the second half.

Kristen Dockery, getting extra minutes with Katie Loberg in foul trouble, added 12 points and five rebounds off the bench. Dockery's basket with 5:44 left in the game gave the Gophers a 50-45 lead.

The Gophers' Jackie Voigt and Kionna Kellogg combined for 19 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end.

Alexander had 17 points and 10 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season. Jaime Printy, Iowa's leading scorer, had only 13 points on 4-for-12 shooting but scored nine of her team's last 12 points.
