U's Bozek, Menefee honored by women's WCHA

Gophers senior defenseman Megan Bozek was named the WCHA's defensive player of the week and teammate Maryanne Menefee the rookie of the week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Bozek scored two goals and had an assist as the Gophers swept Ohio State 5-2 and 5-3 on the road. Bozek's second goal was the 42nd goal of her career, a program record for her position. Menefee, a forward, had one goal and two assists against the Buckeyes.

North Dakota senior forward Jocelyne Lamoureux, a former Gophers player, was the offensive player of the week. She had seven assists in UND's home sweep of Bemidji State. Those assists made her the WCHA's all-time leading career scorer with 266 points.

Etc.•Three Gophers hockey players were named WCHA Scholar-Athlete Award winners. They are juniors Zach Budish, Nate Condon and Bethany Brausen.
