U diver Bryant second in World University Games

Kelci Bryant, who competes in college for the Gophers, won the silver medal in women's 1-meter diving Tuesday at the World University Games in Shenzhen, China.

Bryant scored 304.00 points, second to 2011 world champion Shi Tingmao of China, who finished with 320.65. With one dive to go, Bryant was 1.45 points behind Shi, but the Chinese champion earned 9s and 9.5s on her final dive, a reverse 1 1/2 with 1 1/2 twists.

Etc.• Six Minnesotans were named to the under-18 U.S. women's hockey team, which will play Canada in a three-game series starting Thursday in Ontario. Among them are two Roseville High School teammates, forward Kate Flug and defender Lee Stecklein. The others are forwards Dani Cameranesi of Blake, Kate Schipper of Breck and Mollie Illikainen of Grand Rapids, and defender Samantha LaShomb of South St. Paul.
