So after a couple of weeks in, here are some of my thoughts on Southeast Asia:
Two Weeks in the Bush

1. Monks are cool. They're like Jedi, walking around in orange robes with shaved heads. You are not allowed to touch a monk, only hand things to them. Women can't sit next to them. The last two seats on the bus are reserved for them and they are allowed to the front of any line. They are treated with a certain reverence, but since they interact with the populace and participate in most daily life activities, they don't possess the aloofness that I have always encounter with western religious figures.
2. Personal space here is smaller. You don't need to say you're sorry when you bump into someone as it is to be expected.
3. Cambodian music is really good, both traditional and hip-hop. It's dancing is not.
4. The handcrafts here are amazing. The intricate kramas (traditional scarves) and the stone and wood carvings are more detailed than anything I have ever seen before.
Stomach grade: C+ Everything was going great until the soup. The positive of the experience was to learn that my heavy-duty antibiotics (sipparo) actually works.
Asian Quiz: What bit me in Thailand that left a golf ball-sized bump on my arm for three days?
A. a Spider
B. a Beetle
C. a Ladyboy
D. a Ladybug
That's all for now. I just made it to Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) tonight so I have just begun Vietnam.
Take care and I will do the same,
Aron
