Two in a row? Wolves' home stand continues with Portland tonight

Some stuff from Wolves and Blazers' morning shootarounds:

* The Blazers are calling guard Wesley Matthews, who missed Saturday's game against Utah because of a sprained ankle, a game-time decision. But judging how he was moving at the end of shoot, it looks like a good bet that he will play.

* NBA commissioner David Stern will be in town Wednesday for the Spurs game -- 8 p.m. start time for ESPN -- and will meet with the media before the game.

* Wolves forward Dante Cunningham -- a former Blazer, btw -- is coming off that perfect 9-for-9 shooting night in Saturday's blowout victory over New Orleans.

When asked if he had ever had a game like that, Cunningham said, "Yeah, in practice. It happens all the time in practice. It's a totally different beast in a game. It's something new, something I'd like to see again."

I asked him if he felt perfect the rest of the weekend.

"It definitely was a good feeling. You know, the Ravers won, so I was definitely feeling even better about the weekend."

* Wolves forward Lou Amundson said he has been talking with his agent about the very real possibility that he will be traded or waived Friday if the Wolves intend to make room for both Chris Johnson and Mickael Gelabale for the rest of the season.

"It's a business so you have to kind of think ahead," Amundson said. "Whatever happens, just continue to do what I'm doing. Everything's on the table right now. You never like to get traded, but sometimes the situation isn't what you hope to it to be. It can work out for the best sometimes."

* Nic Batum is back in town with the Blazers. He's the guy, you'll remember, with whom the Wolves did that intricate free-agent dance last summer.

The Wolves made that $46 million offer that the Blazers matched and Batum is delivering a season this year that suggests he's worth all that money, averaging 16 ppg, 6 rpg, 5 apg and shooting 36.2 percent from three-point distance.

He laughed when I asked him if he didn't at least send David Kahn and the Wolves a nice fruit basket or at least a thank-you note.

"No, no," he said, "I should, I think."

* Batum got together with old pal and French National teammate Gelabale Sunday night. Both, it turns out, stayed in the same downtown hotel.

He did provide this little tidbit about his friend: When pronounced, Gelabale's surname means, "I got the ball."

* Batum said David Kahn asked him about Gelabale "a couple months ago," probably when the Wolves were in Portland right after Thanksgiving.

* Chris Johnson played 30 regular season games with the Blazers in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons and still keeps in contact with the handful of players -- LaMarcus Aldridge, Matthrews, Nolan Smith, Luke Babbitt -- who remain there. "But they got a totally new team," he said.

* Batum said he's played with some point guards before -- Andre Miller, Steve Blake, Raymond Felton -- but...

"He's different," Batum said. "He's good, he's very good and he's going to be Rookie of the Year."

We'll see if Saturday's runaway win was an aberration or if the Wolves can keep that winning going against a surprising Blazers team that's fighting for the playoffs with a 24-23 record.
