FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Twins have released a pair of former Gophers, outfielder Mike Kvasnicka and catcher Kyle Knudson, the team announced Monday.

Both played last season at Class AA New Britain. Knudson, 27, drafted by the Twins in the ninth round in 2010, batted .215 for the Rock Cats. Kvasnicka, 26, a Lakeville native who was drafted the same year in the first round by Houston, batted .257.

Kvasnicka, who has appeared in a pair of Grapefruit League games with the Twins this spring, was involved in an outfield collision with Byron Buxton last August in New Britain, Conn. He suffered a hip injury in the incident, while Buxton's season was ended by a concussion.

The Gophers played with more urgency, but it wasn’t enough to keep them from another conference sweep, and they lost LJ Mooney to injury in the process.
