Twin Cities building permits up nearly 70 percent during January

Four big apartment buildings helped boost the number of units 50 percent

The number of building permits issued in the Twin Cities metro during January was up 70 percent compared with last year, while the number of planned units was up 50 percent, according to the Builders Association of the Twin Cities.

Construction activity during the month got a big boost from four multi-family projects in Minneapolis, which accounted for 377 of those units.
