Law & order

Yolanda McClary, the investigator who is the basis for Marg Helgenberger's character on "CSI," is front and center in "Cold Justice" (9 p.m., TNT), a new docudrama in which she teams up with former Texas prosecutor Kelly Siegler to help violent-crime victims uncover the truth.

Golden Globe winner Idris Elba returns for another round of "Luther" (9 p.m., BBC America), which will air new installments over the next four nights. This time out, John Luther struggles against a twisted fetishist and the recent revelation that he actually has the ability to crack a smile.

Welcome back

John Oliver did an admirable job filling in on "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" (10 p.m., Comedy), but we're looking forward to the return of its stellar host, who I'm sure will regale fans with hilarious anecdotes about his sabbatical in the Middle East to direct "Rosewater."
