TV picks for March 7: Richard Burton, 'People Icon,' 'The Americans'

Richard Burton, perhaps the greatest actor never to win an Oscar, gets some props as TCM's Star of the Month. Instead of spreading his best work throughout the month, the channel is dedicating five straight nights this week to Burton movies. Tuesday may be the most fascinating evening, with a prime-time lineup that starts with "The Night of the Iguana," followed by "Anne of the Thousand Days" and "Look Back in Anger."

Love is in the air
Valentine's Day has come and gone, but ABC and People magazine are convinced that love is all around. "People Icons," a celebration of celebrity love, has some familiar couples but one wonders about the inclusion of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Um, have the producers heard "Lemonade"? Burton's volatile relationship with Elizabeth Taylor is also on the list.
9 p.m., KSTP, Ch. 5
American woman
Keri Russell isn't the only woman kicking butt in "The Americans." The drama begins its fifth season with high anticipation, thanks to a high level of female talent behind the scenes, including staff writer Tracey Scott Wilson, whose play "Prep" was premiered at Pillsbury House Theatre in 2015. In addition, four of this season's 11 directors are women. Equity? Not quite, but a step in the right direction.
