They're all contenders

With his history of musicals such as "Cabaret," it's no surprise that TCM's guest curator Joel Grey would pick 1942's "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (10 p.m., TCM), the infectious George M. Cohan biopic starring James Cagney. But Grey also selected "The Best Years of Our Lives" (7 p.m.) and "On the Waterfront" (12:15 a.m.), two emotional dramas not exactly known for their peppy tunes.

They're all wet

We're weeks away from the opening of local swimming pools, but that's not stopping Minnesota's own Louie Anderson from taking an early dip. He's one of several celebrities participating in the new series "Splash" (7 p.m., KSTP, Ch. 5), which might as well be called "Diving With the Stars." Others taking the plunge include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kendra Wilkinson and Drake Bell.

He's all over the place

Let's just get it over with and give Justin Timberlake his own network. The superstar makes his seventh TV appearance in two weeks, this time with "The Justin Timberlake Special" (7 p.m., WUCW, Ch. 23), a musical extravaganza that just happens to coincide with the release of his long-awaited album.
