A dog's life

Man's best friend gets saluted in "Glory Hounds" (7 p.m., Animal Planet), a new film that documents the work of about 600 military dogs stationed in Afghanistan, sniffing out explosive devices and tracking insurgents.

A tall order

One of basketball's all-time greats continues to try to make the all-star comedy team, this time with "Upload With Shaquille O'Neal" (9:30 p.m., TruTV), a new series in which Shaq stars and professional stand-ups poke fun at online videos.

Red alert

"Red Tails" (6:50 p.m., Cinemax), a George Lucas project that shines a light on the Tuskegee Airmen, didn't get much love from Oscar, but it was recently named best picture at the NAACP's Image Awards. See for yourself if it deserved the honor.
