She works hard for the money
"Life Is But a Dream" (8 p.m. Saturday, HBO), an autobiographical documentary co-directed by its subject, Beyoncé, can get annoying whenever the pop star uses the project to throw herself a pity party. But the film registers when she stops feeling sorry for herself, and gives us a glimpse of her grueling work schedule.
Lincoln logs
Abraham Lincoln, the president who abolished slavery and held together the Union through a civil war, is still pulling off miracles. His latest: exposing the sentimental side of Bill O'Reilly. "Killing Lincoln" (7 p.m. Sunday, National Geographic), based on the Fox News personality's bestseller, is a rather straightforward telling of John Wilkes Booth's assassination plot, softened by Tom Hanks' on-screen narration.
Dodger dogs
"Who Let the Dogs Out" (noon, Friday, Hallmark), the pet-friendly series that dares to name-check a dated novelty song, invites three dated baseball players — Steve Garvey, Jose Canseco and Steve Yeager — to play nice with Tillman, the fastest skateboarding dog. If only they allowed canines to participate in the X Games.
Peaceful easy feeling
"History of the Eagles" (7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Showtime), a two-part documentary, takes an in-depth look at the rise and temporary breakup of a band that helped create the California pop sound while living life in the fast lane. Let's hope comments from guitarist Joe Walsh are accompanied by subtitles.
