Talk to the animals

Naturalist Joe Hutto could be the closest thing we have to Dr. Doolittle. He previously embedded himself with wild turkey chicks and bighorn sheep. In "Touching the Wild," he hangs with wild mule deer in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming. Some social life. 7 p.m. TPT, Ch. 2

Good company

See why "Six By Sondheim" was recently named a Peabody Award winner. This 2013 repeat goes deep on a half-dozen of Stephen Sondheim's finest works with the help of some famous friends, including Audra McDonald and America Ferrera. 8 p.m. HBO Family

Family matters

We have officially run out of ideas for reality shows. Alan Thicke, once known for starring in "Growing Pains," now known for raising Robin Thicke, is center square in "Unusually Thicke," which spotlights his relationship with his much younger wife, described as "spicy" in a news release. Painful, indeed.
