TV critic's picks: Wednesday

Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show"

December 4, 2012 at 9:14PM

Winter nights Former "Grease" co-stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John reunite on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" (4 p.m., WCCO, Ch. 4) to push their holiday music and give fellow guest Mario Lopez a chance to fulfill a lifelong dream and dress up like Kenickie.

Ball of fire Barbara Stanwyck, one of cinema's most tough-minded actresses, is TCM's showcase star for December, which means a marathon of her finest works Wednesday nights and throughout the day Thursdays. The tribute kicks off with a focus on her romantic melodramas, starting with the 1930 Frank Capra film "Ladies of Leisure" (7 p.m., TCM).

A really big show LL Cool J and Taylor Swift co-host "The Grammy Nomination Concert Live: The Countdown to Music's Biggest Night" (9 p.m., WCCO, Ch. 4), featuring performances from Maroon 5 and Luke Bryan. Funny, I always thought Curtiss A's annual Dec. 8 tribute to John Lennon at First Avenue was music's biggest night.
