That darn cat Considering the havoc he leaves in his wake, I'm not sure I trust one of Dr. Seuss' most famous characters to teach me anything, but I'll take PBS' word for it and believe that "The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas" (2:30 p.m., KTCA, Ch. 2). In this new animated adventure, the Cat attempts to help a reindeer find his way home.

Those aren't pillows Your holiday go-to movie may be "Home Alone" or "Miracle on 34th Street." For me, it's "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" (7 p.m., WUCW, Ch. 23), the John Candy-Steve Martin comedy that manages to be both hilarious and sweet with both actors at the top of their games.

Rome is burning Jim Rome, the bombastic sports-radio host, takes another stab at TV with "Jim Rome on Showtime" (9 p.m., Showtime), a new one-hour series in which he'll interview figures in sports and entertainment. If all goes well, maybe Rome could be the new villain on Showtime's "Dexter."
