Jennifer Love Hewitt is latest Special Victim

September 28, 2010 at 6:28PM

JLH meets SVU Now that Jennifer Love Hewitt is done whispering to ghosts, she's got time to play a stubborn rape victim on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (8 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11). Her case proves so hard that the team leans on a West Coast detective, played by Skeet Ulrich, who just happens to star in the latest "L&O" spinoff, "Law & Order: Los Angeles" (9 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11). What a nice coincidence!

Trash TV Carl Quintanilla's latest documentary stinks. The veteran reporter wades through the smelly stuff for "Trash Inc: The Secret Life of Garbage" (8 p.m., CNBC), tagging along with sanitation workers, engineers and business folks trying to get rid of our junk. The film looks at the environmental challenges on the mainland, Hawaii and in China, which is now producing more refuse than any other country in the world.

Blue heaven "Days of Heaven" (7 p.m., TCM) moves about as slow as an old dog down a country road, but the pace allows patient viewers to enjoy director Terrence Malick's incredible eye for detail and natural beauty. Stars Richard Gere, Sam Shepard and Brooke Adams give breathtaking performances in this 1978 sleeper about a cruel hoax being played on a dying farmer.
