Whale of a tale

"Ocean Giants" (7 p.m., KTCA, Ch. 2), which is not about how Eli Manning and his teammates love deep-sea diving, is a three-part series devoted to whales and dolphins. Didier Noirot, Jacques Cousteau's cameraman, is part of the team hoping to get a better understanding of these mysterious creatures.

Happy, happy

For recently cracking up the host on "Conan," Adam Pally should get major points -- or at least another million viewers to his sitcom, "Happy Endings" (8:30 p.m., KSTP, Ch. 5). Yes, it features six "Friends," but it really shares nothing with that show, other than the fact that they're both worth watching.

The fame game

We're pretty sure that George Stephanopoulos took the "This Week" gig so he wouldn't get straddled with celebrity puff pieces, like the one on "20/20" (9 p.m., KSTP, Ch. 5). Instead, his "Good Morning America" co-host Robin Roberts is burdened with looking at Oscar nominees' lives before they were famous.
