TV critic's picks: Sunday-Thursday

"Firefly," "Family Guy"

November 8, 2012 at 8:19PM

Class reunion "Firefly" refuses to flicker out. Ten years after the short-lived series was canceled, fans are still clamoring for more and creator Joss Whedon is happy to oblige. A full-day marathon of episodes (6 a.m. Saturday, Science Channel) is followed by "Firefly: Browncoats Unite" (9 p.m. Saturday, Science Channel), an oral history of the show featuring current "Castle" star Nathan Fillion.

21-gun salute Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise put aside their tough-guy images to pay tribute to real-life heroes in a "National Salute to Veterans: Celebrating All Our Heroes" (7 p.m. Sunday, KTCA, Ch. 2). "The Voice" winner Javier Colon stumbles out of his cave of obscurity to pay his respects.

Back in time "Family Guy" (8 p.m. Sunday, KMSP, Ch. 9) celebrates its 200th episode with a retrospective and a self-reflecting story line in which everyone but Stewie and Brian starts operating in reverse. It's a relatively mild outing for the series, which means it's totally appropriate for anyone over the age of 23.

Strike up the band Brian Austin Green, better known these days as Mr. Megan Fox, shows off a few sexy moves of his own in "Wedding Band" (9 p.m. Saturday, TBS), a harmless, occasionally amusing new sitcom about a cover group that specializes in playing wedding parties and creating havoc wherever they go.
