TV critic's picks: Friday

"Sex and the City" stars on "The View"; Memorial Day war movies

Four on the floor The panel on "The View" (10 a.m. Friday, KSTP, Ch. 5) makes some extra room on the couch for Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, stars of "Sex and the City 2" and the backup team in case the "View" regulars are ever sidelined by a hot-tub incident.

Celebrity rehab The E! network celebrates its birthday with "E! Celebrates 20 Years of the Celebrity Revolution" (8 p.m. Friday, E!), followed by "The Soup Presents: 20 Years of Takin' Some E!" (9 p.m.), in which host Joel McHale pokes fun at everything the previous hour just honored.

Bubba and Blair Screenwriter Peter Morgan's fascination with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair continues with "The Special Relationship" (8 p.m. Saturday, HBO), which examines the bond between Blair and President Bill Clinton (Dennis Quaid). Michael Sheen, who played Blair in "The Queen" and "The Deal," is back, but the real draw is Hope Davis, who channels both the complexities and coolness of Hillary Clinton in the wake of the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

War at home Memorial Day and movies go together, especially at TCM, which is dedicating the weekend to films that celebrate soldiers' sacrifices. A few personal favorites: "Battleground" (2:30 p.m. Friday), which is as harrowing in spots as "Saving Private Ryan;" "The Bridge on the River Kwai" (12:15 a.m. Saturday), the very definition of epic; "The Best Years of Our Lives" (7 p.m. Saturday), a tribute to the shell-shocked veteran; and "The Guns of Navarone" (1:45 p.m. Sunday), an old-fashioned, action-packed thriller.
