Come together Since the Beatles put Abbey Road Studios on the map, it's only fitting that the third season of "Life From Abbey Road" (7 p.m. Fri. in St. Paul; 10 p.m. Fri. in Minneapolis, Sundance) kicks off with a tribute to their "Abbey Road" album. Among the contributors: Seal ("Something"), Sugarland ("Come Together") and Matchbox Twenty ("She Came in Through the Bathroom Window"). Nice efforts, but none of them will make you forget the originals.
Night fever With "Glee" on hiatus and the future of the "High School Musical" franchise up in the air, MTV spins out "Turn the Beat Around" (9 p.m. Friday, MTV), a disco-friendly movie about young dancers finding their inner Tony Manero. Contemporary groups Cobra Starship and Sing It Loud provide updated versions of '70s classics.
Jenny's on the block Jennifer Lopez shoves aside fan favorite Betty White to serve as both host and musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" (10:30 p.m. Saturday, KARE, Ch. 11). This is the second time she's done double duties for the show and while we don't begrudge J. Lo for taking the gig, would it be so wrong to let the former "Golden Girl" take a stab at "Let's Get Loud"?
Stepping it up Those who believe "Masterpiece Classic" only dabbles in drawing-room dramas will be astonished by its new production of "The 39 Steps" (8 p.m. Sunday, KTCA, Ch. 2), an action-packed romp that would have made glum-faced Alfred Hitchcock giggle with delight. After watching this, we'd love to see what "Masterpiece" would do with Indiana Jones.
