Playing politicsIf you're not already exhausted by the political season, check out "A Night at the Movies: Hollywood Goes to Washington" (7 p.m. Friday, TCM), a new documentary chock full of clips from "Nixon," "Advise & Consent" and "The American President," with commentary from Oliver Stone, Fred Thompson and others. The special is followed by "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" (8 p.m. Friday, TCM), in which James Stewart shows Bill Clinton what a really long speech is.

Shaken and stirredTurns out Sean Connery emerges these days only when a fellow Scotsman has a shot at winning the U.S. Open. The retired actor doesn't contribute to "Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007" (7 p.m. Friday, Epix), but his stubborn spirit looms large in this documentary that suggests the behind-the-scenes antics were just as fascinating as anything going on in the films.

Scene steelerPeople consider "Pretty Woman" to be Julia Roberts' breakout role, but it was her turn as the doomed Shelby in "Steel Magnolias" that put her on the map. Does that mean Condola Rashad's career is about to take off? The daughter of former Viking Ahmad Rashad and "Cosby" star Phylicia Rashad takes on the part in a remake (8 p.m. Sunday, Lifetime) that also features Queen Latifah, Jill Scott and Alfre Woodard.

Stair masters"Upstairs, Downstairs" (8 p.m. Sunday, KTCA, Ch. 2) may not be as delicious as "Downton Abbey," but it more than satisfies Anglophiles who know Sherlock Holmes isn't the only Brit having a jolly good time. "ER" veteran Alex Kingston joins the cast in this new round of episodes.
