National Geographic Wild gets "Wild About Snakes."

Snakes aliveNow we know why that cobra tried to escape from the Brooklyn Zoo. He was merely trying to slither to a TV set to savor "Wild About Snakes," a three-day tribute to his peers on National Geographic Wild. The festivities include the season premiere of "Python Hunters" (8 p.m. Friday), Henry Rollins' "Snake Underworld" (9 p.m. Friday), five back-to-back episodes of "Dangerous Encounters With Brady Barr" (3 p.m. Saturday) and "Anaconda: Queen of the Serpents" (9 p.m. Sunday).

What's up, doc?I consider myself a film buff, so I was surprised to see a movie I've never heard of being hailed as "the most powerful film ever made about drugs." It's called "Skezag" (1 a.m. Saturday, Documentary) and if you've never heard of it either, you'll be relieved to know that our esteemed movie critic also drew a blank. That doesn't mean it might not be worth checking out. The 1970 documentary about a Vietnam veteran struggling with heroin addiction was recently chosen to be included in the National Archives.

Dinner is served"America's Next Great Restaurant" (7 p.m. Sunday, KARE, Ch. 11) may be far from a TV hit, but let's hope it has some good taste when it comes to picking a winner in Sunday's season finale. It's down to meatballs, soul food or spicy Indian with the winner opening joints in three locations, including the Mall of America.

Class reunion Mary McCormack, my TV crush, returns for a fourth season of "In Plain Sight" (9 p.m. Sunday, USA), which has her old "West Wing" co-star Joshua Malina on board as a series regular. If that's not enough nostalgia, "West Wing" alum Bradley Whitford pops in for a devastatingly good performance next week as a grieving widower.
