TV Critic's Choice: Cult of personality

January 11, 2008 at 12:10AM

Cult of personality After all these seasons, Adrian Monk is still sick as a dog. Proof? In a new episode of "Monk" (8 p.m. today, USA), he falls under the sway of a cult leader played by Howie Mandel. Just imagine the trouble he'd be in if the role had been played by Wink Martindale.

Queen for a night Golden-Globe nominee Nikki Blonsky ("Hairspray") puts her plus-sized talent to work in "Queen Sized" (8 p.m. Saturday, Lifetime), playing an unlikely homecoming queen. Fortunately, her mother is played by Annie Potts, not John Travolta in a dress.

Holy Hannah Kids still smarting from having to miss Miley Cyrus in concert will be comforted by a new episode of "Hannah Montana" (7 p.m. Sunday, Disney), which features an appearance by former teen star Joey Fatone. A duet of "Bye Bye Bye" is not out of the question.

Over the moon Re-creating roles associated with Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones is dangerous business, but Steve Zahn and Karl Urban make it look as easy as falling off a horse in the "Lonesome Dove" prequel miniseries, "Comanche Moon" (8 p.m. Sunday, WCCO, Ch. 4), an action-packed western that will have you itching to add John Wayne flicks to your Netflix account.
