ANOTHER CLOSE LOSS FOR TULSA
The Tulsa Shock (0-7) lost 98-91 in overtime to Chicago at Rosemount, Ill. So they will have less rest and arrive later than the Lynx for their game on Saturday night at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Guard Ivory Latta scored 25 points and Scholanda Dorrell and rookie Glory Johnson 17 apiece for Tulsa, a team which lost three earlier games by three points or fewer.
On Friday, Epiphanny Prince saved the game for the Sky (5-1). She scored eight points in the final 29 seconds of regulation, including a game-tying three pointer at the buzzer. In overtime, she had eight more points to finish with 32. It was her third consecutive gave with more than 30 points, tying a league record.
Sylvia Fowles had 14 points and tied a career record with 21 rebounds. ... Guard Shay Murphy, a former Lynx player, has left the Sky to fulfill a contractual obligation to play for Montenegro's national team. She will miss five games.
Tulsa shot 40.8 percent from the field --- the first time they were over 40 percent in six games. But the Shock were only 20 of 32 on the free throw line and were outrebounded 45-31.
The Shock stayed close because they only had 16 turnovers; the Sky had 27.
