Tuesday (The false debate over whether Jim Thome is a Hall of Famer) edition: Wha' Happened?

Good times.

July 19, 2011 at 11:15AM

As it stands right now, Jim Thome is a no-doubt, throw-your-brain-out-the-window, sure-fire cinch to make it to the Hall of Fame. In fact, we would be completely stunned if he didn't make it on the first ballot. He has almost 600 home runs. He plays in an era when plenty of sluggers are known or suspected to have enhanced their power. He does not fall into that category. He is, from what we know, one of the good guys and a crazy-good power hitter.

With all that in mind: Please watch as Dan Graziano, Jay Crawford, and Skip Bayless attempt nonetheless to turn Thome's Hall of Fame credentials into a legitimate debate. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You might punch your computer.

Thoughts, as always, in the comments.

Randle was a strong candidate to play in the All-Star Game on Sunday, but was not chosen and will head to the beach instead.
