The Twins bullpen gave up 13 hits over two innings Monday. That's as many hits as Ervin Santana has given up in his past three starts combined, spanning 23 innings.
Last May, Jose Berrios earned his first major league victory against Houston, going only 5⅓ innings. He has been much better in 2017 than he was in 2016, and obviously the Twins will be leaning on him today after what happened the past two days (7:10 p.m., FSN).
"The rare player whose skills go through a rapid decline seldom reverse it, but occasionally players regain their moxie in their mid 30s and have productive last thirds of their career. Perhaps this is the case in with Mauer."
