Rays beat Yankees on sub's homer

•TAMPA BAY 6, NEW YORK 3: Nick Franklin hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning as the Rays beat the Yankees on Tuesday night in Tampa, Fla. Alex Rodriguez and Greg Bird homered for the Yankees. Franklin, who entered when shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera left after four innings because of a left knee strain, put the Rays up 4-3 on his homer. J.P. Arencibia made it 6-3 on a two-run single in the eighth. Rodriguez hit his 32nd homer this season and 686th of his career.

•BALTIMORE 6, BOSTON 5 (13): Chris Davis singled in the winning run in the 13th inning, and the Orioles got home runs from Manny Machado and Steve Pearce to beat the visiting Red Sox.

•KANSAS CITY 2, CLEVELAND 0: Kris Medlen pitched five-hit ball over 6 ⅓ innings and Alex Rios hit a home run that launched some unintentional fireworks for a visitors' homer, leading the Royals to a win over the Indians.

•OAKLAND 17, CHICAGO 6: Josh Reddick homered and drove in four runs during a 10-run fourth inning to power the Athletics to a rout of the White Sox in Chicago.

•LOS ANGELES 4, SEATTLE 3: David Murphy hit a three-run homer and Mike Trout a solo shot as the Angels edged Felix Hernandez and the Mariners in Seattle.


Strasburg, Nationals top Phillies

•WASHINGTON 4, PHILADELPHIA 0: Stephen Strasburg gave up one hit and tied a career-best with 14 strikeouts in eight dominant innings, and Bryce Harper hit two homers as the visiting Nationals beat the Phillies. Strasburg allowed only a single to Cody Asche leading off the bottom of the fifth. He has 27 strikeouts in his past two starts.

•PITTSBURGH 5-1, CHICAGO 4-2: Pedro Florimon scored on Starling Marte's sacrifice fly in the eighth inning as the Pirates beat the visiting Cubs in the first game of a day-night doubleheader. The Cubs won the second game. Jon Lester limited the Pirates to five hits while picking up his first complete game of the season. Lester walked one and struck out nine.

•MIAMI 9, NEW YORK 3: The Marlins stopped the Mets' eight-game winning streak behind New York nemesis Dee Gordon, who homered and had four hits. Winning pitcher Tom Koehler plunked Yoenis Cespedes in the first inning and then silenced the streaking slugger and his teammates, giving up only one run and five hits in six innings.

•ST. LOUIS 3, MILWAUKEE 1 (10): Jason Heyward hit a line drive two-run homer in the 10th inning to lead the Cardinals to a 3-1 victory over the host Brewers.

•ARIZONA 6, SAN DIEGO 4: A.J. Pollock's three-run homer led the Diamondbacks over the Padres in Phoenix.


Braves end home losing skid at 12

•ATLANTA 3, TORONTO 2: Andrelton Simmons' tiebreaking RBI single in the ninth inning ended the Braves' 12-game home losing streak; they beat the AL East-leading Blue Jays.
