Fluke tip into wrong basket lifts Florida State over Florida

• HOOPS OOPS: Florida forward Jacob Kurtz accidentally tipped in a Devon Bookert miss with 0.4 seconds left to give Florida State a 65-63 victory against its in-state rival in Tallahassee, Fla. The victory stopped a five-game winning streak for the Gators (7-5) in the series dating to 2008. The fluke play saved the Seminoles (8-5) after they gave up an alley-oop from Kasey Hill to Dorian Finney-Smith with eight seconds remaining to tie the score at 63. "It's one of those shots that went in that you shake your head about," Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton said. "I've been on the other end of that so many times that I'll take that and be very happy."

• PULLING AWAY THREE AT A TIME: Justin Anderson hit back-to-back three-pointers to fuel a 12-3 run in the second half and No. 3 Virginia beat stubborn Davidson (9-2) 83-72 in Charlottesville, Va. The Cavaliers also reached 12-0 for the first time since Ralph Sampson was a junior in 1981-82.

• NEW FLIGHT PLAN: The plane carrying No. 16 Wichita State to Des Moines, Iowa, for Wednesday night's game against Drake had to return to Kansas after its landing gear malfunctioned after takeoff.

• CARDINALS IN CONTROL: Terry Rozier scored 23 points, Montrezl Harrell added 16 and host No. 5 Louisville (12-1) beat Long Beach State (5-10) 63-48. Putting away the 49ers took some effort for the Cardinals, who saw their 45-23 lead cut to 57-48 with 2:44 remaining.

• HUSKIES' PETERMANN SETS RECORD: Junior forward Lexy Petermann scored a school-record 49 points to lead St. Cloud State to a 92-78 victory over Mayville State in a nonconference women's game in St. Cloud. Petermann scored 32 in the first half as the Huskies raced to a 52-34 halftime lead. Petermann made 20 of her 22 shots, including all seven of her three-point attempts. She also had nine rebounds and three assists. Petermann broke the previous school record of 38 points with a three-pointer in the second half.
