The Gophers landed a commitment Tuesday night from Tralund Webber, a defensive end from Blinn College, a junior college in Brenham, Texas.
The 6-4, 250-pound Webber is a three-star recruit who also had reported offers from Arizona State, Kansas, Iowa State, Kansas, Texas State and Cincinnati. He graduated from Yoe High School in Cameron, Texas.
Webber is Minnesota's 12th commitment for the 2016 class and the first defensive end. That's a position of need with current defensive ends Theiren Cockran and Alex Keith entering their senior season.
Webber will have two years of eligibility remaining and plans to enroll at Minnesota in January, which will let him take part in spring practice.
