Gophers women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings signed her first recruit: 6-foot-1 forward Shae Kelley, a transfer from Old Dominion who chose the Gophers over Louisville, LSU and Michigan State, among others. She will be eligible immediately, having already earned her degree, and has one year of eligibility.
"Shae is an ultra-athletic forward who will thrive in our up-tempo system," Stollings said in a statement. "She can create plays in the open court with both her speed and intelligence, and her versatility will allow her to play both inside and out. She has an uncanny ability to score in a multitude of ways."
A native of Denver, Kelley was named to the 2014 All-Conference USA first team. She averaged 17.8 points and 9.7 rebounds and had 17 double-doubles.
"I can't wait to play in the Big Ten and to be awarded the opportunity to play for such an experienced staff," Kelley said in a statement. "It is the year of the Maroon and Gold."
