The storm currently soaking Texas will not only return substantial snow to the mid-Atlantic later in the week, but also push drenching rain across the South, threatening to trigger flash flooding.

Rain will spread from Texas to the lower Mississippi Valley by the start of Thursday. The rain will then reach Pensacola, Fla., and Atlanta, Ga. later Thursday before invading the Carolinas and northern Florida Friday.

In addition to flash flooding problems, rain could create problems for travelers. Motorists should prepare for slow travel due to rain reducing visibility, spray from other vehicles, and water ponding on highways. Airline passengers will likely encounter delays.
