Time for crafty shopping

Looking for something distinctive for your home? More than 240 of the nation's top fine craft artists will be in town next weekend, presenting their handmade creations at the 26th annual American Craft Council Show. You'll find goods ranging from furniture and decor to clothing and jewelry.

This year's show also has been recrafted with five new categories: "foodieware," men's department, bride-to-be, blue chip club (one-of-a-kind pieces valued at $10,000 and up) and local.

The show will be held April 20-22 at St. Paul RiverCentre, 199 W. Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul. Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. On-site admission is $12 for a one-day pass, $20 for a three-day pass.

April flowersNo need to buy a spring centerpiece when you can make your own. Bachman's is offering a design workshop, "Spring Circles," on the art of creating a spring floral arrangement. The class will be led by Bachman's floral designer Diane Enge, three-time finalist for the Minnesota Designer of the Year. It will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Bachman's on Lyndale, 6010 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls. The cost is $40. Register at www.bachmans.com.

Daughter of DominoDomino magazine was shuttered in 2009, but it's still producing offspring. Conde Nast now plans to publish Domino special editions, starting with Quick Fixes, focused on simple inexpensive design ideas that make a big impact.

The issue, priced at $10.99, hits newsstands Tuesday. A second special edition is planned for the fall.
