0-3 road trip raises desperation level

Wolves update: Minnesota returns home after an 0-3 road trip — the fourth time the Wolves have gone winless on a road trip of at least three games this season. The Wolves gave up an average of 129.3 points in those three losses, and the swoon realistically ended any long shot playoff hopes they still harbored. Basketball Reference gives Minnesota a 0.6 percent chance of reaching the postseason. ... Robert Covington, who has missed the last 26 games because of a bone bruise on his knee, will help when he returns. "At some point this week, hopefully we'll see him in action," interim coach Ryan Saunders said Monday. ... Karl-Anthony Towns was one of the lone bright spots on the trip. In his past four games he's averaging 35.3 points and 16.5 rebounds. ... Andrew Wiggins is averaging 35 points in two games against OKC this season, both narrow road victoriess.

Thunder update: Oklahoma City (39-24) is tied for third in the Western Conference, but its position became more precarious with a recent four-game losing streak that ended Sunday in a 99-95 win over Memphis. ... Paul George, who has been garnering some MVP talk, has missed three consecutive games because of a right shoulder injury. ... This is Oklahoma City's third game in four nights and is part of a stretch of five games in seven nights.
