Dramatic, dynastic champs arrive
Wolves update: The Timberwolves (32-38) lost twice at Golden State this season, once with Jimmy Butler in the lineup (116-99) and once without him (116-108). This is the first of two matchups the Wolves and Warriors will play at Target Center over the next 10 days. The Wolves still are dealing with injuries to multiple players. Luol Deng (Achilles) and Derrick Rose (right elbow) are game-time decisions, while Jeff Teague (left foot) and Robert Covington (right knee) are out. … Karl-Anthony Towns' 22 points on Sunday were the fewest he scored in a game since he had 16 against Memphis on Jan. 30. … Starting because of the injuries to Teague and Rose, Tyus Jones didn't score on 0-for-6 shooting against Houston, but rookie Josh Okogie tied a season high with 21 points.
Warriors update: After their 111-105 loss to San Antonio on Monday, the Warriors (47-22) are tied with the Nuggets atop the Western Conference despite going through their share of drama this season. There was a spat earlier in the season between Kevin Durant and Draymond Green related to Durant's contract status for next season and beyond, while Durant criticized the media for what he deemed unfair coverage of his impending free agency. Durant's field-goal percentage has held steady at 51.3 percent, but his three-point percentage has dipped from 41.9 percent last season to 35.9 this season. … DeMarcus Cousins did not play for the Warriors on Monday because of a sore right foot. His status for Tuesday is unknown. C Andrew Bogut rejoined the team with Cousins out.
