Tony Gonzalez, the most accomplished tight end in NFL history, Ed Reed, Champ Bailey and London Fletcher are first-year-eligible players among the 102 modern-era nominees for the class of 2019 for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Gonzalez retired in 2013 after 17 pro seasons — 12 with Kansas City — in which he had 1,325 receptions, second to Jerry Rice on the career list.
Reed and Bailey were standout defensive backs. Reed played 11 seasons in Baltimore, three times leading the league in interceptions. Bailey, who also dabbled on offense, had 52 career picks.
Fletcher, a rare undrafted player to be nominated for the Hall of Fame, finished his career with 1,380 tackles, 23 interceptions and 39 sacks for three teams.
Finalists from 2018 who are nominated again include running back Edgerrin James; wide receiver Isaac Bruce; offensive linemen Kevin Mawae, Steve Hutchinson, Alan Faneca and Tony Boselli; safety John Lynch; and cornerback Ty Law.
Etc.
• Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa (foot) will miss Sunday's game at Buffalo. Bosa, who has 23 career sacks in two seasons, also didn't play in last week's 38-28 loss to Kansas City.
• Jacksonville running back Leonard Fournette (hamstring) is running again and feeling "better and better," he said. He said it would be a game-time decision whether he'll play Sunday against New England.
• Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (right elbow) missed practice again on Thursday. Roethlisberger has not missed a start because of injury since October 2016.
