Tidbits: Oatmeal's big moment

Oatmeal's big moment and mmmmm, M&Ms.

Oatmeal's big moment Quaker, which now has so many kinds and flavors of oatmeal that even Mr. Tidbit (who enjoys wasting his time with this kind of thing) doesn't want to count them, has launched something entirely different. Mr. Tidbit will let Quaker set it up: "It's your biggest decision every morning: oatmeal or pancakes? End the debate by enjoying both at once. Get your favorite oatmeal flavor in fluffy pancakes." Yes, it's Quaker oatmeal pancake mix!

Mr. Tidbit isn't convinced that many folks' biggest decision every morning is oatmeal or pancakes. In fact, he's pretty sure that it is almost nobody's biggest decision any morning. But he has to tip his hat to Quaker for attempting to resolve the question by boldly combining the two.

It took Mr. Tidbit several days to notice the real significance of this product. He believes it is the first instance of Quaker using "oatmeal" as an adjective -- modifying an unrelated noun. Not sure what Mr. Tidbit is driving at? Just think of the literally thousands of other possible future Quaker products that might trace their beginnings to 2010's single bold step of oatmeal pancakes: Oatmeal scrambled eggs. Oatmeal sausage links. Oatmeal chili. Oatmeal soup. Oatmeal pizza. Oatmeal macaroni and cheese. Oatmeal muffins. (Oops; we already have those.)

So anyway, how are the oatmeal pancakes? Mr. Tidbit would say that they are nothing like oatmeal, but only slightly odd as pancakes. And a serving has 4 grams of fiber.

Mmm, mmm M&Ms? Mr. Tidbit doesn't usually report about new flavors of existing products; there are just too many. But once in a while one seems to jump out of the clutter. That is surely the case with new coconut (artificial flavor) M&Ms.

Are they good? One of Mr. Tidbit's little friends thought they were terrible, but another, after looking at the ingredients and starting to complain about the absence of any actual coconut, popped one into his mouth, stopped in midsentence and exclaimed "I love them!"
