Nikolaj Ehlers recorded his fourth career hat trick and the Winnipeg Jets took over sole possession of first place in the Western Conference with a 5-3 victory over the host San Jose Sharks on Thursday night.

Ehlers' second goal of the game broke a 3-3 tie at 16:53 of the third period. He then added an empty-netter.

Connor Hellebuyck made 41 saves for Winnipeg, which has won six of seven.

The Sharks had won five straight overall and four straight at home.

Toronto 6, Florida 1: Auston Matthews had two goals and two assists, and John Tavares also scored twice for the host Maple Leafs.

Matthews' 18 two-goal games rank second behind only Alex Ovechkin's 19 since Matthews entered the league in 2016-17.

Mitch Marner increased his career assist total to 126, the most by a Leafs player before age 22.

Morgan Rielly had four assists to become the first NHL defenseman to reach 40 points this season.

Tampa Bay 5, Calgary 4: J.T. Miller scored in the seventh round of a shootout for the visiting Lightning. Tampa Bay (27-7-2) improved to 10-0-1 in its past 11 games.

Montreal 2, Arizona 1: Carey Price stopped 36 shots for the visiting Canadiens and became the second goaltender in team history to win 300 games. Jacques Plante holds the team record with 314 wins.

Philadelphia 2, Nashville 1: Carter Hart made 31 saves for the host Flyers for his second straight win in his second NHL start. Nashville has lost nine straight road games.

Columbus 2, New Jersey 1: Cam Atkinson scored on a penalty shot for the host Blue Jackets, giving him 20 goals in six straight seasons.

Boston 3, Anaheim 1: The host Bruins ended a nine-game losing streak to the Ducks.

• Former Ottawa Senators assistant general manager Randy Lee pleaded guilty to harassing a 19-year-old male hotel shuttle driver in May in Buffalo. The 57-year-old Lee was charged with inappropriately touching himself while making lewd comments and rubbing the shoulders of the driver while attending the NHL's pre-draft scouting combine. He resigned in August after 23 years with the Senators.

• Sabres forward Patrik Berglund cleared waivers and will have the remaining 3 ½ seasons of his contract terminated. The Sabres waived Berglund on Wednesday after suspending him for failing to report to the team for its road game Saturday at Washington.
