The skinny: Western Michigan is seeking the first bowl victory in school history, as the Broncos have lost all six of their previous bowl appearances. A victory also would give Western Michigan consecutive eight-win seasons for the first time. Middle Tennessee is seeking to end the season on a five-game winning streak.
The stat: Western Michigan's Corey Davis has accumulated 100 yards receiving in six straight games and has 3,602 career yards receiving, most among active FBS players. His 32 touchdown catches rank him second among active FBS players, behind only Baylor's Corey Coleman.

The skinny: San Diego State has won nine games since a 1-3 start and is playing in a bowl game for the fifth straight season. It has not lost since Sept. 26 (at Penn State) and owns the third-longest active winning streak in FBS. Cincinnati is making its seventh straight bowl appearance and ninth in 10 years. A win would give the Bearcats their fourth 11-win season and first since they went 12-1 in 2009 and lost to Florida in the Sugar Bowl.
The stat: San Diego State RB Donnel Pumphrey, the Mountain West offensive player of the year, led the Aztecs in yards rushing (1,554) and receptions (27).
