A search for the new president of Winona State University has been narrowed to three semifinalists. They are:
- Anne Huot, provost and VP for academic affairs at the College at Brockport, part of the SUNY system
- Scott Olson, provost and VP for academic and student affairs at Minnesota State University, Mankato
- Jem Spectar, president of the University of Pittsburgh, Johnstown

Steven Rosenstone, chancellor of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, will recommend a finalist to the public system's Board of Trustees, which will vote on the pick at a meeting May 16.
Judith Ramaley, who began as president of Winona State in 2005, announced in August that she would step down at the end of this academic year.
