Opening
This work by Polish playwright Tadeusz Slobodzianek (in an English version by Ryan Craig) recounts life in a village where a horrible massacre occurred in 1941. The scenario begins 16 years earlier, as 10 Jewish and Catholic children in the small village share their dreams of adulthood. These same classmates grow older, and when the Soviet Union and then Germany roll over Poland, personal bonds are broken by the impulse for nationalist preservation. Miriam Monasch directs this production by the Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company. The cast includes George Muellner, Caleb Carlson, Walter Weaver, Candace Barrett Birk, Michael Jurenek and Elena Giannetti.
