'Good People'

Opening: Virginia Burke and James Denton portray high school friends whose ensuing lives have landed them in different social classes. Burke's Margie has had a rough go and is out of work. Denton's Mike is a successful doctor. David Lindsay-Abaire's play, which won the 2011 Tony, explores how much of our success (or lack thereof) is due to circumstantial luck and how much to our own effort. Joel Sass directs and designs this season opener for Park Square Theatre. The play also marks Denton's Twin Cities debut. He's best known as the plumber on "Desperate Housewives." (Previews 2 p.m. Sun., 7:30 p.m. Tue.-Thu. Opens 7:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat. $25-$58. Ends Oct. 6. 20 W. 7th Pl., St. Paul. 651-291-7005 or www.parksquaretheatre.org.)
