'BUCCANEERS'

Opening: Playwright Liz Duffy Adams was walking on a beach with her then-8-year-old niece when the girl asked for a story. The playwright, who had just completed an adult work, told a tale to her niece, who in turn retold it to her aunt with notes and corrections and invented characters. Thus was born "Buccaneers," a musical adventure about a brave young girl making her way during the days of swashbuckling. Actors Megan Fischer, right, and Bradley Greenwald star in this world premiere directed by Peter Brosius. It kicks off the Children's Theatre's 47th season. (Previews 7 p.m. Tue.-Thu., opens 7 p.m. Fri.; 2 & 5 p.m. Sat.-next Sun. $10-$56. Ends Oct. 21. 2400 3rd Av. S., Mpls. 612-874-0400 or www.childrenstheatre.org.)
